London Fashion Week: Fashion Food Chain

Last week saw the circus that is London Fashion Week SS'12 roll around - a time when the fashion folk come out in force and the best (most interestingly) dressed take over the streets. What did this week mean for me? Well it definitely put me in my fashion place. Unfortunately, that wasn't at The May Fair hotel.

Even though I pretty much know where my fashion place is (the bottom of the pile), I was lucky enough to get tickets for the  House of Holland show where I saw the likes of Eliza Doolittle, Jamie Winstone, Laura Bailey, Pixie Geldof, and good ol' Lorraine Kelly.

It turns out our tickets were 'standing' (I went with my friend) and we got there like total fashion newbs - way too early. Oh well. It would have been fine had it not started to rain. We cowered underneath the umbrella until all the important people had arrived to take their seats before we - the standing fashion plebs - were let in.

The Invite: Pastels & Punks
Whilst we waited for the show to start, we took pictures of each other - what else was there to do? This is me...

Being on the short side, I was never going to get an amazing view but this was the best picture (used in the loosest sense of the word) I could get of House of Holland's Pastel Punks SS'12 collection.

House of Holland SS'12 - Pastel Punks
About the collection: The sorbet coloured palette of the collection made me wish for summer and provided the perfect backdrop for the oversized leopard print.  I especially loved the mix of metallic disco-esque lurex knits paired with plaid; Cher from Clueless would definitely have approved.  The rubber pants though, Henry can keep. Even though the collection was called Pastels Punks it still had a 'girly' feel to it. Albeit a very modern girl, and definitely not a shrinking violet.

I'll leave you with a picture of Cher & Dionne in their classic mini-kilt plaid suits, and the rather less glamourous pic of the muddy puddle that formed around me as I stood in the queue. Ah, fashion week memories.
