SEINFELD - Funny then, Still funny now

Image via:

"Say Vandelay!"

This quote screamed by George as he runs across the room with trousers around his ankles before tripping and falling has got to be one of my all time favourite Seinfeld moments.

In the last couple of months, Edward and I have watched all of Seinfeld again, and I must say it's as funny now as it was then. In fact, I think I found it funnier this time round.

The antics and coffee shop conversations of these four New York friends who seem to be irritated by the world around them, and at times with each other, just entertain me.

I don't know what possesed us to rewatch this comedy classic, but I'm so glad we did. If you haven't ever watched a Seinfeld episode, then stop reading this blog and go and do that instead. I'm being serious.

Technically, it's a show about comedian Jerry Seinfeld, his friends, and the situations they get themselves into. They would describe it as a show about nothing. The situations they get themselves into aren't out of the ordinary, yet somehow when it happens to them, it's just funnier.

You can't beat a good TV binge and this is one of THE BEST. You'll laugh, you'll laugh some more, and in fact come away with the feeling that these four are in fact quite mean people, but you'll love them anyway.

As much as I love Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer, a special mention has to go out to George's parents - Estelle and Frank Constanza - the funniest and shoutiest parents around. You may know them as Estelle Harris, the voice behind Mrs Potato Head in the Toy Story movies, and Jerry Stiller,  a comedian and dad to actor Ben Stiller.

I could go on and on about this show, but the best way to get to know it and the characters is to watch it. Find the box sets, or wait until Seinfeld comes to Netflix - let's hope this is true!

In the meantime, you can get yourself acquainted with all things Seinfeld here:, read the recent Jerry Seinfeld AMA on Reddit, or join the other five million plus people on the official Seinfeld Facebook page.

25 years since it first aired in TV and it's still - in the words of Kenny Bania ", Jerry! Gold!"

I'll leave you with a clip of my favourite scene that I described earlier...

Oh, one more thing did I mention is was co-created by one of my favourite grumpy guys - Larry David!
